The Chinese Crested Club of Nashville was formally founded in May 1984. For several years prior to that time, the club hosted Rare Breed shows in addition to Specialty shows for Chinese Crested only.

The CCCN was the first regional club to gain AKC recognition. With this status, they put on their first "A" match in September of 1991 and their first AKC show for championship points in 1992.

The current membership is comprised of 40+ members - about equally divided between "show" people, who compete in conformation classes for championship points, and others whose Crested family members are loving pets.
